It may help if you ask senders to sanitize their story themselves, and report it to you in 3rd person.
Eg:
THIS ONE BELOW IS BETTER:
"X has been victimized by the long wait times of the permanent residency processing system in the US due to a clerical backlog in the immigration agency. X's application, pending since August 2001, ....etc. etc.,"
INSTEAD OF:
"I have been waiting for my GC, labor filed in Aug 2001, in Vermont Service Center., etc."
Signed- X"
That will probably save you some editing and review time. If you require help editing, let me know.

I have given my phone number several times, even you can have it ( 412 915 9526 ) but the admin is not willing to call me. I believe GCStatus has sent his phone number too. I have been a member here since July 2007, based on the GCStatus credentials, he has created his ID just a month or so. Why would I all of a sudden fake my ID when I have such a good reputation in this site. You can visit all my posts.

50,000 unused visas were given to Schedule A in 2005. When the bill was first introduced the unused visas 100,000+ was supposed to go to EB3 since there was retrogression in just EB3 category and Schedule A was part of EB3.
After debate for a few days 50,000 of these were allocated to Schedule A and the EB3 retrogression was forgotten and never been fixed since.
Hope this doesn't happen again.

Though I am cynical about this campaign, I appreciate your efforts to do some good. The reason I am cynical is because any campaign with a small set of beneficiaries or members has a little chance. And more importantly such operational mistakes are hard to prove and stand little chance for correction as these are time bound actions and you cannot go back in time and rectify them. However, these are just my views!!!
But I am noticing that you have 2 reds against your posts. We can disagree with each other but we cannot undermine the sincere efforts and let anti immigration folks have a laugh at us.

IV strikes a blow for the high skilled community!
Remember the time when members were ringing up the phones of Senators and Congressmen during last year's CIR discussions? I suppose we all came of age around then.. and grass roots members got the idea they could make a difference.. From then on, IV has been going from strength to strength, a snowball finally on the move.. leading to the flower campaign, then the rally, and now, this!!
My hats off to the core members, who have skilfully steered this sometimes raucous, but always enthusiastic ship.
I was going through my Paypal transactions, and totting up my contributions. The tally? not nearly enough!! So adding some more to the kitty.
Its a small price to pay for the biggest payback, of all: A voice!

I have no words to thank you all who were so determined to get this straightened. I was not really expecting this great news after so much disappointment and uncertainity. One thing I strongly believe is the VOICE which was needed and IV proved it by getting us all together. We must all realize that such targets can be possible only for such voice and its possible not by just one or two. We have selected a date and struck the right chord with flowers. Good job,. Please keep up the spirit and never forget to thank all those who contributed and even those who did NOTcontribute or wanted to hear us. That way the reps will know how the other party felt and is thankful and will try to really understand why it meant so much to such a huge highly educated community,.

1) Was there an LUD update on ur I-140 (Last Update Date on the USCIS.gov website)
2) What Service center did you guys file in?
3) Do your recept numbers start from LIN or SRC?
1) The LUD updated from 6/16/2007 to 8/12/2007
2) I-140 was sent to Texas, approved on 6/15/2007;
on the I-485 USPS receipt I see that it was received on July 2, 2007 11:34am by B.Gerkensmeyer in Lincoln, NE
3) I-140 receipt starts with SRC.
No checks chashed, no word from lawyer.

I agree.... there are no IOs at the fingerprinting offices let alone talking to them.
I had an infopass appointment today and the IO there told me a lot. She told me that me and my wife's namecheck and fingerprints were cleared. She also told me that the case has not been assigned and therefore she opened a Service Request for me to expedite the case (dont know if it will help). She also mentioned that there is no memo stating that the vsa numbers have been exhausted.
And believe me.. i overheard the other IOs in the saying that the immigration system is screwed up and the service centers dont know what they are doing... so guys you can see what the system thinks of itself.....
so again as i have said....sit tight and hope and pray ....

The best thing for everyone is to keep hopes low and wait till September passes. There's so much information,rumors,gossip doing the rounds to drive everyone crazy.

Thanks for all the responses and suggestion. All your suggestions mean one thing my filling the H1 this year is near to impossible. well i understand the situatiuon and now i'm in a state to plan my moves.
Firstly can i take my OPT back and continue my current masters?? I sent the forms on say 1st of April..
Sencond, Is this an option that i file my H1 with some firm next year (2008) and after my opt expires join for a Masters/PHD course get a F1 status so that i can stay in the US, then when my H1 comes to act on Oct 2008 can i take that and withdraw from the Masters program and also change from F1 to H1??? Is this possible coz this is what i might plan to do.....

My visa stamp has name some thing like that

xyz is first name ABC is last name
FNU is family name unkown
The passport has Given name as XYZ ABC ....and surname is blank
The EAD ,485 ,Social Security Card has
LNU ,ABC XYZ
The michigan DMV has refused to issue the Driver Licence ,They are telling the names do not match ...... Some how I have shown the AP document which has photo as identity and having name LNU, XYZ ABC ......accepted the documents . I know this is start of whole lot of trouble ...
Now I want to know how to correct these changes at USCIS ,consulate .......
God knows how many places ...........Totally confused ......

I just spoke to Indian consulate, NYC. The procedure to correct the last name is very simple. All you need is an Affidavit from the person (Signed in US, saying that you are correcting your name.), 4 photos and a copy of 797 or Visa. No need of advertizements, or Indian affidavit.
Please note, this is applicable only if,
In your passport Surname is Blank
Given name has <first name><last Name> (and all spelling etc are correct)
and you want it to be corrected to
Surname <last Name>
Given Name <First Name>
They will issue a new booklet with corrected name. It's same day service in NYC.

I grow different kind in my backyard. It all depends on the size of your backyard and which zone you live in states. I live in virginia. By this August end /september first week summer crop will end. I grow tomatoes(30 plants), Mint, snake guard, water melons (15 plants), cantaloupes(10 plants), carrots, okra, spinach , chillis. Its fun and hard work too. You need to dig the soil, mix with top soil or garden soil and cultivate it. Every week fertilize it. This is my first year gardening. I have around 3000 square ft of back yard. i do not know what to do with that. I cannot maintain Lawn in back yard. So I decided to grow vegetables.
I am eagerly waiting for my fall garden..I am planning to grow tulips,beets,cilantro,carrots,potato,peas etc., If I can get same space for garden In India and work place just 3 miles from home , I can happily go back to India.

Come to think of it, this idea has potential to fly. We can ask CIS to make the date of I-140 filing as the PD for substituted labor case. This will ensure that PD will move forward smoothly till July 07 at least. That will cover most of the long standing ( and long suffering) GC applicants and bring them relief. This will not have any other impact on the number of outstanding apps or available visa numbers etc. I guess this change in PD assignment logic can be done by CIS without the need of any new legislation.
The idea inherently appeals to those who believe in fair play. How do we take this forward.
I do agree with you, USCIS honors the old PD on the Labor, not the I-140 filing date.
Dont know the exact rule on the labor substitution cases, but i know for sure people who applied in 2007 with old sub labor PDs from 2000 and 2001 received their GCs. I would simply call them lucky as they found the Employers who took advantagfe of the sub labor rule and filed their petitions before the sunset date of July 16th 2007.
Lets hope USCIS do their job and approves only the genuine lab sub cases.
